OneWeb
What Is OneWeb broadband?
OneWeb’s satellite platform is designed to deliver global high-speed internet connectivity, bridging the digital divide by serving rural, remote and underserved regions worldwide.Â
The OneWeb constellation consists of Low Earth (LEO) satellites that employ advanced engineering principals to achieve seamless global coverage, coupled with low latency. Â
As an authorised OneWeb reseller, Brdy provides tailored broadband solutions designed to meet the unique demands of your business – wherever you operate.Â

How OneWeb Works
The OneWeb constellation comprises 650 operational satellites, with additional spares in orbit, deployed across 12 orbital planes. The satellites orbit at an altitude of approximately 1,200km and provide near global coverage including the polar regions. Â
Due to the high inclination at which the constellation operates (86.4 degrees), this allows the satellites to pass close to the poles, ensuring coverage of high-latitude regions such as Alaska, Greenland and Antarctica.Â
The constellation is designed to maintain a consistent overlap between satellite footprints, ensuring continuous service availability and seamless handover between satellites.Â
Low Latency Advantage
Traditional ‘Geo’ satellite internet relies on a single geostationary satellite orbiting the Earth at an altitude of approximately 35,000 km. This distance creates high latency, making real-time applications such as video calls, streaming, cloud services, and online collaboration unreliable or unusable.Â
OneWeb operates a global network of ‘LEO’ satellites, orbiting at approximately 1,200 km above Earth. Because the satellites are much closer to the earth, high data rates and minimal signal attenuation is achieved. Data travels faster, and latency is reduced to as little as 70 milliseconds.Â
This low-latency high-speed performance makes OneWeb ideal for business connectivity and mission-critical operations, including:Â
- Central/Federal government offices and Embassies Â
- Marine and offshore vesselsÂ
- Defence and diplomatic communicationsÂ
- Border and maritime surveillance Â
Compliance and Sovereignty
OneWeb is owned by Eutelsat, the European satellite operator and as a European based company, OneWeb is fully compliant with European data sovereignty laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), this is especially important for Â
- Government clientsÂ
- Enterprises with strict data residency requirementsÂ
- Critical infrastructure providers
Data landing and storage can be localised within Europe, ensuring compliance with European standards and mitigating concerns about U.S based jurisdiction over data.Â
High-Speed with Low-Latency
OneWeb delivers fibre-like performance, with download speeds of up to 150 Mbps+ and latency as low as 70ms. Teams can collaborate in real time using video conferencing, cloud platforms, and data-heavy applications, without the delays associated with traditional ‘GEO’ satellite services. Â
