How Starlink Works

Traditional satellite internet relies on a single geostationary satellite orbiting the Earth at an altitude of 35,786 km. This distance creates high latency, making real-time applications such as video calls, streaming, cloud services, and online collaboration unreliable or unusable.

Starlink is different.
It operates a global network of thousands of LEO satellites, orbiting at approximately 550 km above Earth. Because the satellites are much closer, data travels faster, reducing latency to as little as 25–60 ms.
